Finca la Isla's botanical garden is a working permaculture farm with a collection of over 100 different mature exotic fruit trees and an amazing variety of palms and ornamental plants situated between corridors of good quality secondary rainforest, also offering good birding and opertunities to see animals like sloths, aguties and abundant poison dart frogs.

Tours begin with visitors smelling the cinamon from the bark of our cinamon tree, then on to our ample bromeliad collection where we will learn about these plants and visitors will be surrounded by Dendrobates Pumilo (red poison dart frog) which we guarantee all visitors will see. We will see ginger, tumeric, and several other healing herbs in our medicinal section, and then take a brief walk through a section of abandoned chocolate farm.  Visitors will sample the fruit of the chocolate tree (in season) and every group will try the cocoa beans that we process right here and taste a natural locally made chocolate candy along with a detailed description of the process and history of propuction in the area.

We will go on to learn about the Vanilla plants that we have on the farm, learn in detail about the production of black pepper, bananas, nutmeg, rubber and many other interesting tropical farm crops growing in the garden.  Visitors will get to taste many different fruits depending on what is in season and we will finish our walk with a refreshing juice drink made with a seasonal fruit observed on the tour.  Finca la Isla's Botanical garden offers an unforgettable experience of tasting exotic tropical fruits, smelling incredible flowers and spices, and seeing beautiful ornamentals and wildlife.
